Trailed glass

Trailed Dabs

Trailed glass can also be applied more precisely, where a gather of glass is applied to the surface of the vessel and the iron pulled away creating a thread that is then laid on the surface. This latter technique was used to produce what is often referred to as “Dabs”, “Eyes“, “Peacock Trails” or “Cairngorm”, a form of decoration produced by all the major Stourbridge factories.

The trailed dab style of decoration is usually associated with Stuart and Sons or Thomas Webb & Sons but Stevens & Williams produced wares with dabs of different forms and are shown in the description books over the period 1902 to 1912.
