The photograph shows Master Engraver C.P. Kimberley (who signed many exquisite ‘Webb’ pieces) about to add floral intaglio decoration to the existing geometric cutting. Variations in speed of the intaglio wheels were obtained by moving a small endless belt situated on the outside of two wooden cones which tapered in reverse directions.
